Detect Hearing Loss Early On

Hearing loss is a problem that generally shows up during old age. Anyone can get affected by hearing loss but generally, people above 60 tend to suffer from sensory loss. This problem has become as common as diabetes and cancer.

But with increasing cases, there is also an increase in solutions! The hearing loss problem can be detected and treated much more efficiently and effectively. To get treated, it is more critical to identify the problem quickly. So here is a list of symptoms to detect hearing loss –

  • Difficulty in understanding the daily conversations
  • Late response or no response to the questions
  • A feeling of not being able to understand the words
  • Excessive sound while watching TV or hearing audio
  • No longer able to hear nature’s sounds like birds humming
  • Avoiding frequent conversation with people around (change in behavior)
  • Exhaustion after having a casual conversation with anyone
  • Difficulty in communicating at gatherings like traffic, parties, restaurants, public places, or in a group
  • A sense of Tinnitus, or buzzing and/or vibrant sounds in the ears

Circumstances that cause hearing loss –

  • Old age – People above 60 are more prone to hearing loss
  • Frequent exposure to noise like a loud machine, loud music, etc.
  • Having a family history of hearing loss genetically
  • Having other diseases like heart disease or diabetes
  • Trauma or head injury
  • Some illnesses like Meniere’s disease and otosclerosis may also result in hearing loss
  • “ototoxic” drugs may also cause hearing loss
