Hearing loss - A problem for older adults

Hearing loss is a problem that is caused due to aging, certain diseases, extreme noise or through hereditary. Hearing loss leads to difficulty in conversation and communication with people around them. In extreme cases, a person becomes dependent on others for their every day chores of life too. But the treatment for hearing loss can bring back the ability to hear up till 90- 95%. Hence, allowing them to continue life chores flawlessly.
It is important to visit a doctor as soon as you realise if you are suffering from hearing loss. The treatment options available for hearing loss are Hearing aids, medication and surgery.
Some people have hearing loss and are unaware of it. Visit the doctor immediately if you suffer from any of the below mentioned symptoms:
- Having difficulty hearing over the phone
- It's difficult to follow conversations when two or more individuals are speaking.
- Request that people repeat themselves.
