December 05, 2021

25% of people suffer from some form of allergy during the course of their lives.

An allergy is the body’s response to something that they perceive as harmful. While allergies can be mild in some cases, they can also be devastating if left untreated.

The most common symptoms of allergies are cough, wheezing and a runny nose. In worst cases, it may even hamper the ability to breathe.

Here are some of the most common allergens. If you or a loved one has been having any allergy, determine the cause, and try to stay away from the allergen.

  • Pollen: This is one of the most common allergens in the world. An allergy to pollen is known as hay fever (allergic rhinitis) and can considerably irritate the nasal tract, causing a sore throat.
  • Dust and Dust Mites: Dust is a known allergen. Keep your house clean and dust free at all costs.
  • Animal Dander: If you are a pet lover or an animal parent, remember that tiny flakes of skin or hair from your furry friends can cause a whole lot of trouble.
  • Food: Food allergies are super common in today’s world. Processed items, particularly nuts, fruit, shellfish, eggs and cows' milk all result in different allergic reactions.
  • Insect Bites and Stings: Well, it is a foreign body, and the human body’s response is to get it out as soon as possible.

If you have any of these allergies, and the allergy hampers the quality of your life, reach out ti an ENT specialist. They will be able to pinpoint the cause and help you get some much needed relief.
