Sinus Allergies : Relieving perennial pain and irritation

March 08, 2021

At any given point of time, one in ten adults experiences pain and irritation owing to sinus allergies!

Some people experience a running nose, and irritation in the throat that does not abate for even months or years.

This irritation is primarily caused by allergies, which affects the nose, sinus (the space on the top of the nose) and the throat. The presence of common allergens results in the inflammation of the nasal passage and sinus, which in turn leads to a perpetual sensation of irritation in the nose.

What causes sinusitis?

Pollen grains, dust, mould and pet hairs are the most common allergens or irritants that cause sinusitis. Sometimes, the presence of infections can either lead to or exacerbate the condition. The constant presence of the irritants in our daily lives causes the nasal pathway to swell and unable to recover.

Headache, frequent sneezing, and soreness in the throat and nasal cavity are some of the common symptoms of sinusitis.

Prevent allergies: Bid goodbye to permanent sniffing.

While sinusitis caused by allergies is not harmful in most patients, it can certainly impair the quality of life.

Avoiding dust is key to staying away from sinusitis. Inhalation of steam is found to alleviate the inflammation in some patients. Consulting an ENT specialist to identify and avoid the triggers, can provide immense relief. Additionally, your doctor may prescribe medications to provide immediate and long-term relief, to keep the allergy at bay.
