People snore when they are sleeping deeply; these snores can be snuffles or loud rasps and snorts. Snoring affects 45 percent of adults on occasion, while 25 percent snore often or on a regular basis.
Snoring is more common among overweight, middle-aged, and elderly people, as well as women following menopause. In many people, the loudness of their snores increases as they become older.
What is Snoring?
Snoring is the sound produced when air flows through the relaxed tissues of the tongue and soft palate due to blocked breathing. Every time you breathe, the tissue sags and narrows, resulting in the sound.
Why do people snore?
Snoring is caused by low muscle tone, thick throat tissue, and a long & soft palate or uvula. Other medical conditions that cause snoring include nasal congestion, sinus infection, nasal polyps, allergies, or a crooked septum.
However, snoring can be a warning indication of life-threatening health issues such as Sleep Apnea and Sleep Deprivation.
Treatment for Snoring –
Snoring can be handled by any healthcare practitioner if it is a concern for you or your partner. Based on the severity of the snoring and its causes, a tailored plan can be created.
If snoring is the source of other health problems, treatment for the underlying cause can be initiated early to prevent further complications.
Snoring might make it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Snoring causes harmful sleeping patterns in certain people, resulting in exhaustion, sleepiness, and even fatigue. Getting enough and uninterrupted sleep is an important aspect of recovering from exhaustion, injury, or disease. As a result, it's critical to get treatment before a little problem like snoring becomes a major problem.
